Dear Parents and Whanau of Ōtākaro January 27th, 2017
Welcome to our Ōtākaro studio. During our first weeks we will be focusing on positive collaboration and getting to know each other and how the studio operates.
School starts for the year on Tuesday 31st January - have your child here by 8.45am ready to start the day at 8:55am. Your child will be bringing home their first Home Learning task on day 1. Please work with your child to complete this.
Swimming - Ōtākaro studio will be having swimming lessons in Weeks 2 and 3 of the term. A notice will come home on day 1 of the term. This needs to be returned asap to ensure your child is placed in a suitable group. This will disrupt our normal learning programme. There is a cost for the swimming and this will be changed to your school account.
Learning Conferences will take place in week 4 of Term 1, Wednesday 22nd Feb 3:30 - 8pm, Thursday 23rd Feb 1:30 - 6pm. Booking information will come out soon.
Start of the Year
On day one please bring:
- all stationery clearly named with child’s first and last name.
- two pencil cases: Tools to include pencils, black biro, glue stick, pencil sharpener, high lighters (yellow and green). Activity - coloured pencils, felts.
- Bring a book for silent reading, if it is personal, please name.

1 x HB pencil Set of coloured pencils

2 x gluestick 1 x 1WB Exercise Book, Intermediate Writing
6 x A4 Exercise Book, 8mm ruled (Home Learning, 1 x 30cm ruler (not Flexi)
Reading, Writing - x 2, Te Reo, Handwriting/Spelling) 1 x unruled scrap book
Students will also need a Library Folder and a Reading Folder.
BYOD - iPads can be brought in from day 1 but we there will be limited use in week 1. All BYODs need to come with a new BYOD form signed and with all apps on the iPad. These forms were sent home last year. We will have extras in the studio. Any questions please see Whaea Charlotte.
